Biography

Joel Supeck is originally from the United States. Raised in Northeast, he graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science, Business in 1999. He majored in Management and Marketing. Before shifting to New Zealand in 2003, he spent six years working for The Salvation Army in Philadelphia, PA in the area of community service and youth development. 

Joel was involved in managing and marketing tertiary education organizations in New Zealand from 2003 - 2012. He first broadened his marketing experience and knowledge of the industry as a student recruiter and marketing assistant at Natcoll Design Technology. In 2005, he moved to Bible College of New Zealand (now Laidlaw College) where he fulfilled the role of Associate Marketing Manager before assuming the position of National Marketing Manager in February 2006. During this period, Joel's position evolved, and as the Director of Communication and Business, he was responsible for leading the school's Property Services and Hospitality Team. Joel was one of a handful of dedicated senior managers at the College with the responsibility for implementing the organization's considerable change agenda.  His work included several restructuring projects; retooling the organization's approach to marketing and student recruitment; and planning, leading, and implementing the College's rebranding and naming initiatives in 2008.  

As a lifelong learner, he completed a week long Leadership Programme for High Potentials with the Institute of Strategic Leadership (2006). He also received his Master of Business Administration from The University of Auckland (2009). His master's thesis examined the professional management of specialized staff in academic institutions. Joel has also lectured in the area of leadership, applied management, organization and management, and business communications at the International College of Auckland (2010-2012).

Joel reconnected with The Salvation Army in 2012 and worked as the Business Administrator at the Albany Bays Corps in Auckland. In November 2015, he transfered to the Regional Office to beomce the Divisional Business Administrator for the Army's Northern. Working closely with the the Divisional Team and Corps and Centres within the Auckland and Northland Area. In 2021 he worked to create the role of Divisional Operations Manager in an effort to align the efforts of the Regional mission and business teams. 

His interests include faith, leadership, management, economics, history and politics.
